The Greek islands are traditionally grouped into the following clusters: The Saronic Islands in the Saronic gulf near Athens, the Cyclades, a large but dense collection occupying the central part of the Aegean Sea, the North Aegean Islands, a loose grouping off the west coast of Turkey, the Dodecanese, another loose collection in the southeast between Crete and Turkey, the Sporades, a small tight group off the coast of Euboea, and the Ionian Islands, located to the west of the mainland in the Ionian Sea.

The Dodecanese islands: Rich in history and sights,
Rhodes is the largest of the Dodecanese islands and the capital of the group of Greek Islands. The capital lies outside and within the walls of a very well preserved Venetian castle, built by the Knights of St. John. The whole of the “Old Town”, is the largest inhabited medieval town in Europe. Inside the city , walls its multicultural past can be vividly seen: the Knights’ Palace and the Hospital , the Gothic churches , arches and cloisters , Byzantine churches , a working hamam (Turkish bath) , fountain squares , imposing houses with atriums and inner courtyards , museums and galleries. The famous ‘Street of Knights’ ends outside the magnificent Palace of Grand Masters, you can still imagine that period. On the other side of the island, at the foot of a huge rock, under another castle and ancient acropolis (a donkey ride away) , the picturesque village of Lindos is perhaps the most beautiful on the island. The famous Valley of the Butterflies, a cool and peaceful oasis, is home each year to thousands and thousands of butterflies. With streams, waterfalls, shady paths and little wooden bridges, this park with its Natural History Museum is justifiably one of the island’s premier attractions. Symi (Simi) is a small picturesque island located between Rhodes and Kos. Explore this island for a quiet and relaxing vacation with charming villages with traditional architecture and fine beaches. The famous site ; the Monastery of Taxiarchis Panormitis , with its miraculous , gilt iron and exquisite carved channel screen , is one of the most important monasteries in Greece. Explore one of the most verdant island complexes, the Ionian Sea lies along the west of Greece.  With its close proximity to Italy , the Ionian Islands has strong Venetian influence , particularly in Corfu.  Corfu is one of the most sophisticated destination in the East Med with its rich multi-cultural heritage , historical monuments , stunning natural landscape , crystal clear seas and its excellent weather all year around. It is also the ideal port to begin your yacht cruising. Cruise on the fertile shores of Zakynthos (Zakinthos) . The island is a riot of flowers – “Flower of Levante” , green olives and vines. , and the nestling ground of the caretta caretta turtle. On the north west coast of Zakynthos ; you’ll find Shipwreck Cove also called Navagio Beach which is probably the most famous picturesque beach in Greece and can be only accessed by boat. The largest island in the Ionian , Cephalonia (Kefalonia) , has a dramatic and various landscape.
